ARTIST STATEMENT

2008

I try to exam the relationship between symbol and contents. The content has much more information than the symbol; whereas the symbol could not fully or even partially represent the content.  I am questioning the validity of the transferred information. I attempt to demonstrate, in the information age, how distance influences and attributes to the contents.

I enlarged the commonly used emoticons to several thousand times till each pixel is clear in size and copy the proportional sized image on the canvas. Then I painted on grid  surface
